FESTIVAL PROGRAMME

 Festival programme 2009.

 STATUTES OF THE 6th FESTIVAL OF EUROPEAN FILM SMILES
1. The guiding principle of the festival is to show and judge outstanding films which, in their content and treatment, correspond to the given genre definition.
2. The festival will take place in Mladá Boleslav from 5th September to 11th September 2009.
3. The festival programme consists of:
 - Competition of European feature films
 - Competition of Czech feature films – the winner in this category is automatically included in the competition for the European prize
4. Only one film from each European country may be selected for the feature-film competition. Only films distributed after 1 January 2008 may be selected for competition.
5. Films are selected for competition by the selection committee. The Director of the festival approves the selected films.
6. For each film entered in the competition, the festival board invites a delegation representing the given foreign film and covers the cost of their stay. Delegations of Czech films are finalised after agreement with the producer of the film.
7. Films screened in competition are shown in their original language; the organiser reserves the right to provide subtitles or other forms of translation. Copies of the films, together with accompanying promotional material, dialogue sheets and complete subtitles must be sent to the organisers by 1 July 2009.
8. An international jury decides upon the awards. No member of the jury may be associated in any way with the making of a film entered for competition.

Films in competition may be awarded the following prizes:

Main Prize - ŠKODA AUTO award Main Prize for a European Film - Czech Television award 
Award for a Czech Film -Barrandov Studio award
Award for Best Actress - JCDecaux award
Award for Best Actor - Pivovar Klášter award 
Prize awarded by the Director of the Festival
Mayor’s Prize 
Audience Prize - OS KOVO Škoda Auto Award

10. All preparations for the festival and the festival itself are undertaken and supervised by the festival staff.
11. Insurance costs during transportation from the country of origin to the customs office in Prague are covered by the organiser.
12. Cases not covered by these Statutes are left to the discretion of the festival Director.

     This festival is conceived as a long-term event which, for business partners, denotes a contractual relationship lasting several years.
